My mother used to make this bread for Christmas morning. I love the nostalgia it brings me with a cup of hazelnut coffee. A great make ahead breakfast for the holidays when the Christmas chaos has struck. A little sweet, a little tart, and very nutty (kinda like me!)

- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar, plus another 1/2 tbsp for dusting
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 c. orange juice
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. sour cream
- 1 1/2 c. chopped, fresh cranberries
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- Butter a 9×5 in loaf pan
- Stir together all dry ingredients
- Add the butter, sour cream, orange juice, orange zest, and egg
- Mix in the cranberries and walnuts
- Spread into your prepared pan
- Sprinkle the top with sugar (about 1/2 tbsp)
- Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
