Maple sausage is one of my husbands favorite weekend treats. When our grocery store stopped carrying it we decided to make our own. Cheaper, fresher, and definitely more delicious than what you find in the freezer aisle.

- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 8 patties 1x
Description
Sweet, savory and a little spicy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb pork sausage
- 2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 3/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- a few grinds of fresh cracked pepper
- 1/8 cup maple syrup
Instructions
- In a small bowl mix all the dry ingredients (this will help evenly distribute the spices)
- In a medium bowl combine ground pork, dry ingredients and maple syrup, mix by hand until evenly combined
- Divide meat into 8 patties
- Fry on medium low heat until gold brown, 3-4 minutes per side
Notes
You don’t want your pan too hot because the maple syrup will start to burn. I use a non stick skillet
This freezes really well. Wrap the patties in parchment and put in a freezer bag to use later. Add another minute or two to your cook time.
